Celtic Queens Reimagined

Self-Initiated Work

A personal project reimaging three Celtic queens (mythical and real) with a contemporary twist.

Gráinne Mhaol (bald Grace) is a real Irish queen who shaved her beautiful locks so she could ride a pirate ship along the west coast of Ireland - she would most definitely be described in Irish slang as pure ‘Deadly!’

Before St. Brigid there was the Irish pagan triple deity Bríg, a mythical figure associated with Poetry, Healing and Smithing (represented with flame) - she would be described in Irish slag as pure ‘Fire!’

Finally, Meadb. A fierce fighter who caused the infamous cattle raid ‘Táin Bó’, who collected a wide selection of husbands - she would be described in Irish slang as simply ‘Savage!’
